Patio, Fence & Flower Beds Print E-mail

The Brief

  • Produce a design for a new patio to replace the existing crazy paving and old out houses.
  • Design a solution to blend the new area into the wider garden.
  • Ensure the existing Yew Tree remains, and that the proposal accommodates the berry and debris dropping from it.
  • Design additional patio for entertaining which does not restrict the use of the garden by teenage children for balls games.

Our Concept

  • Use the shape of the windows within the outhouses as the basis for the patio.
  • Remove the existing walls, paving and builds and replace with a natural stone patio.
  • Frame the garden with a pergola and planting.
  • Create an entrance to the new patio with wide shallow steps from new wood sleepers and sandstone.
  • Install a low Willow fence to create an attractive back drop for the reshaped and planted beds alongside the steps.
  • Install an elliptical shaped natural stone, set into the lawn, to create an additional patio. The stone is set level with the turf so it can be used as a hard surface for ball games.
  • Reshape the beds under fruit trees and add a long 30m bed to further develop the geometric shapes.
